Gabrielle Walsh Talks Lacey’s Time In Captivity With Mark-Paul Gosselaar’s Sir In Found Season 2

Warning: This article contains SPOILERS for the Found season 1 finale.

The second season of Found premieres on October 3 and will see the Mosely & Associates team live out their worst nightmare. In the show’s pilot, viewers learn that Gabi has kidnapped the man who once abducted her and Lacey, locking him in the basement to assist in missing person cases. She hides the crime throughout Found season 1 but is forced to tell the team the truth when Sir escapes and takes Lacey captive once more.

Although Sir’s obsession with Gabi keeps her tentatively safe, his resentment towards Lacey creates an unpredictable situation. Whether she lives or dies could be fully dependent on Gabi’s cooperation and how long it takes Mosely & Associates to find their friend. Actor Gabrielle Walsh emphasizes that viewers will feel the loathing during her character’s time in captivity, as Sir believes that Lacey is to blame for Gabi’s freedom.

Screen Rant interviewed Walsh about the repercussions of Gabi’s secret, Lacey’s time in captivity, and the close bond her character has formed with Zeke in Found season 2.

It Won’t Be Easy For Lacey To Forgive Gabi In Found Season 2

“When you find out that this person has been lying to you, and they’re not who they claim to be entirely, that is a loss of identity in some ways.”

Screen Rant: What was your initial reaction when reading the season 1 finale script and discovering the cliffhanger?

Gabrielle Walsh: I was like, “Oh my God, am I going to have a job next year?” [Laughs] But I was very excited. I always look forward to reading the scripts, and so when this one came out, I was like, “No way. He is out. What is going to happen?” I’m like, “Is he going to get Lacey? Is he going to just mentally torture us?” And it turned out to be both. There are a lot of intense twists and turns with him being out.

What would you say was going through Lacey’s head when Gabi first told her the truth about keeping Sir captive?

Gabrielle Walsh: I think it was mostly shock and betrayal. This person who’s your hero—Lacey views Gabi as her sister, of course. They’ve been through so much together, given that they were taken together and that she saved her. You’ll see even more about what that relationship is this season—or was—from after they had gotten taken. But it was a lot of shock and betrayal, just disbelief.

I think Lacey knew that something was off about Gabi as you saw throughout season 1, like, “What’s going on with you?” She has such an intuitive read on where her sister is coming from and if something is going on with her, and so finding out that this was it was heartbreaking.

Does Lacey blame Gabi for her abduction?

Gabrielle Walsh: That’s a good question. I think you’ll have to see. I think when it comes to Gabi, the connection that Lacey has with her and the deep bond that maybe she’ll be able to see through some of those faults. But I don’t think it’s without that pain of losing who you thought someone who you’re so close to is—when you find out that this person has been lying to you, and they’re not who they claim to be entirely, that is a loss of identity in some ways. So I think, maybe there is a world where that exists, but I don’t think that it will be so easy.

Found Season 2 Will See Sir Use Lacey To Try And Get Gabi Back

“You’re going to feel the loathing, and, I hate to say it, but [you’ll see] exactly how Sir feels about Lacey and utilizing that as a tool to his advantage.”

The episode ends with Sir in Lacey’s home, so will we see what actually happens before he takes her?

Gabrielle Walsh: The writers do a really good job of not giving everything away. Without giving it away myself, you see how intense that interaction is between the two of them, and you get breadcrumbs along the way. It is a bit of a psychological thriller in that way, and Sir loves his puzzles. He loves to draw Gabi in. You’re not going to get everything right away, but you’re going to go on the journey of what that was and see the team do their thing to figure out what happened and what’s going on. Where is Lacey?

Sir does have a twisted sort of care for Gabi and her well-being. His feelings towards Lacey are definitely different, so what is that time in captivity going to look like?

Gabrielle Walsh: As you can see, Sir loathes Lacey. He just feels so close to Gabi and that is his family. And I think that Sir blames Lacey for losing Gabi because it wasn’t until he took Lacey that Gabi got the strength to get the hell out of there when it became beyond herself, which is sort of the theme of how she handles everything, but to the extent where she’ll bend and break the law to do whatever it takes to see someone home. So you’re going to feel the loathing, and, I hate to say it, but [you’ll see] exactly how Sir feels about Lacey and utilizing that as a tool to his advantage with trying to win Gabi back.

Lacey had Gabi to protect her when they were kids, but how will she fare now that she’s alone?

Gabrielle Walsh: Lacey isn’t a kid anymore, and that’s a big difference. She had Gabi back then to give her strength and to protect her, and she has Gabi since, in many ways, to look up to, outside of this recent secret unveiling. But she’s had that to model herself. I don’t think that she’s completely unprepared.

I think, given that Sir has been out there on the loose, that she hasn’t just been twiddling her thumbs. She’s been preparing for this, but there’s nothing like the real-life scenario where it’s actually happening, where you’re actually facing your monster.

Walsh Believes That Zeke Has Been Lacey’s Safe Place Outside Of Gabi

“There is that connection that they have where they’re almost able to feel free with each other and able to feel safe.”

Maybe this isn’t at the forefront of everyone’s minds, but I do just want to check—is Lacey’s dog okay? Did someone go pick up Cruiser?

Gabrielle Walsh: Cruiser is well. Cruiser just got some mild poisoning. Thankfully, he’s okay. I don’t think NK or NBC wants to off the dog. [Laughs] We don’t want that. Maybe Sir would want that, but MP loves dogs too, so Cruiser is okay. Cruiser is alive and well.

I really enjoyed Zeke’s dynamic with Lacey last season. What are your thoughts on where that could potentially go if she escapes?

Gabrielle Walsh: I think that Zeke and Lacey have a really strong bond having experienced mutual trauma as children. There is that connection that they have where they’re almost able to feel free with each other and able to feel safe. I think Zeke, in a lot of ways, outside of Gabi, especially the last season, has been Lacey’s safe place. You’ll see that bond grow and that connection grow. Outside of Gabi, Zeke is someone that Lacey can trust and that’s huge given everything that she’s been through.

What do you think the most climactic episode of season 2 is so far?

Gabrielle Walsh: We got 22. I don’t know if I could really finger-point that. I think they keep getting more intense. It was funny because, at the beginning of the season, NK sat us down and walked us through just like, “Hey, we got 22 episodes, so we’re going to be able to slow burn this thing out and get into things so much more.”

But literally from the first episode it was just like chaos. Chaos ensued. Of course, because Lacey’s with Sir, but each and every episode gives you something to look forward to and be on the edge of your seat about. We start off really strong, so the first several episodes you’re going to be in it.
