Fast & Furious 11’s Perfect Ending For The Franchise Is So Obvious That It Shouldn’t Happen

Fast & Furious 11 is set to conclude the long-running saga in 2026, but there’s been much discussion regarding how the final movie should finally bring all its pieces together in the final act. The cliffhanger ending of Fast X placed Dom and his friends in a deadly situation that came as a result of his ongoing feud with Dante Reyes, the son of Fast Five’s Hernan Reyes. This rivalry will likely continue into Fast & Furious 11′s story, bringing everybody together for one final fight.

There have been theories regarding the ending of the Fast & Furious franchise for many years now, with some audiences suggesting that it should be a self-contained story, while others would rather see Fast & Furious honor Paul Walker and the earlier films in the franchise. There are several routes that the final film could take, but some of the most obvious choices would likely be letdowns.

Fast & Furious 11 Ending With A Family Barbecue Sounds Too Obvious To Happen

The Franchise Has Bled This Trope Dry Already

There have been several family barbecue scenes throughout the Fast & Furious saga, particularly in the previous few films, and it’s become a widely accepted theory that Fast & Furious 11’s final scene will follow this barbecue tradition. The family barbecue has allowed for several of the most important and touching moments in the entire series, bringing the focus of the saga (as always) back to family. These are the moments when Dom is at his most vulnerable, and that’s a key part of his character. However, wrapping up the franchise with a family barbecue may be a little too obvious at this point.

As Dom and his crew will tell you, a Fast and Furious life is dangerous. Good and bad guys alike have met their end in the car-racing franchise.

There have already been several great examples of this, especially in the more recent entries that have featured the expansive Fast & Furious cast. Whereas earlier movies in the franchise often presented a final scene that set up the future, movies like Fast and Furious 6 and F9 used celebratory family gatherings before using credit scenes to tease what was next. Although it would be a good way to bring Dom Toretto’s entire family together for the final time, there are much fresher and more original ways of doing this.

What Fast & Furious 11’s Final Scene Should Really Be

There Are Several Thematic Ideas To Bring Everything Together

Given the extensive history of this franchise and the many phases it’s been through over the years, Fast & Furious’ final scene should be something that pays tribute to the earlier movies in the series. Fast & Furious has changed drastically since the first movie, and it would be a satisfying full-circle moment if the final installment somehow reverted (or at least paid homage) to the style of those early adventures. The best way to do so would be to feature a street race, allowing the series to go back to the basics.

Even though
Fast & Furious 11
is expected to end the main saga, there are other movies within the franchise in development, including an all-female spinoff.

The ending of 2001’s The Fast and the Furious saw Dom and Brian racing each other down the street, leading to Dom’s crash and Brian assisting Dom’s escape before the pair would go on to become like brothers. Fast & Furious 11 should end on a similar image, but with Dom and all the new friends he’s made along the way participating in a street race, but one with lower stakes. This would effectively pay homage to the original film, serve as a tribute to the absent Paul Walker, and include all the newer characters at the same time.
