1000-Lb Sisters: Tammy And Amanda Slaton’s Feud Explained

With 1000-Lb Sisters season 6 premiering in October, a recent trailer revealed a big blow-up fight between Tammy Slaton and her older sister, Amanda Halterman. The unscripted series centers on the weight-loss journeys of 37-year-old Tammy and her 36-year-old sister, Amy Slaton, but several of the other Slaton siblings are also on the show, including 43-year-old Amanda. Both Tammy and Amanda have had bariatric surgery and lost a significant amount of weight over the years.

Tammy had her surgery in 2022, and the 1000-lb Sisters season 6 star went on to lose a shocking 500 pounds. For her part, Amanda had bariatric surgery twice, once long before appearing on the show, and once in 2023. Though it’s unknown exactly how much weight Amanda has lost, she has slimmed down dramatically since having surgery. With the new season set to premiere, TLC released a trailer that featured the two sisters in a dramatic fight.

Tammy & Amanda Are A Lot Alike

They’re Both Hot Headed

Tammy and Amanda are a lot more alight than either would like to admit, as can be seen during many episodes of 1000-lb Sisters. Tammy has a reputation for being a hot head, and the reality television star has lost her cool on everyone in the family at one time or another. Amanda has also been in several major fights with various family members on the show.

Amanda’s most memorable fight came during a Slaton family trip to Florida, where she and Amy got into a screaming fight that ended up involving the whole family. The fight got so bad that the two women had to be physically separated to keep from hitting each other. The Slaton siblings fight often, but they don’t seem to hold a grudge, and continue to be a very close-knit family. In fact, Amy and Amanda went on to live together for a brief time after Amanda broke up with her ex-boyfriend at the start of the summer.

TLC recently posted a trailer for 1000-lb Sisters season 6 on Youtube, and it ends by teasing a massive fight between Tammy and Amanda, which ends with Amanda throwing Tammy out of her house. Though it’s not clear how the fight started, Tammy accuses Amanda of being jealous of her new slimmed-down looks.

“She’s not the pretty sister no more.”

This is in reference to the fact that, while they were growing up, Amanda was the only Slaton sister who didn’t struggle with weight. As a child, she was always considered the thin one, and she didn’t start gaining weight until after she had children.

Season 6 Is Sure To Be Great

In addition to the big fight between Tammy and Amanda, the 1000-lb Sisters season 6 trailer also features a Slaton family trip to the United Kingdom, and Tammy’s pursuit of skin removal surgery. Another major story line for the new season will be Amy’s new identity as a single woman. The 1000–lb Sisters star divorced her husband, Michael Halterman, in 2023, and has been a single mother ever since, and will explore her newfound freedom during the coming season.
