Bulls continue to ‘aggressively shop’ Nikola Vucevic, Zach LaVine, Lonzo Ball

Should the Bulls feel left out in the cold? Far from it. In fact, executive vice president of basketball operations Arturas Karnisovas should be excited that the Feb. 6 trade deadline is still far away and the trade-asset line already has started moving. A source indicated that the Bulls’ goal is to continue aggressively shopping Lonzo Ball, Nikola Vucevic and Zach LaVine, as well as any other name that makes sense. That was their focus going into the season, and it remains their focus even while some solid moments of basketball have been played.

The Dennis Schroder trade has meaning for the Bulls … Schroder vs. Lonzo Ball? Not as big a gap as one would think … let the trade winds keep blowing …

More on this storyline

After failing to extract any draft compensation from Oklahoma City in its Alex Caruso-for-Josh Giddey swap in June, Chicago is said to be seeking a first-round pick to part with center Nikola Vucevic, who has had a tremendous season offensively. The two-time NBA All-Star is averaging 21.0 points and 9.8 rebounds per game while shooting a sizzling 58.7% from the field and 47.4% on 3-pointers. -via marcstein.substack.com / December 14, 2024
Tim Bontemps: While he makes far less money than LaVine, it’s a similar story for Bulls center Nikola Vucevic, as sources across the league also don’t expect much interest in trading for him. Vucevic is actually having one of the best seasons of his career, averaging 21 points and 9.8 rebounds while shooting 58.7% from the field and 47.4% from 3. (Both shooting numbers would blow away his previous career highs.) That has also led to some reasonable skepticism that those high-water marks will hold up as the season progresses. -via ESPN / December 14, 2024
Brian Windhorst: Zach LaVine is having the best shooting season of his career, hitting 51% of his shots overall and 43% of his 3s. But despite this and even with more than a year on the trade block, there still hasn’t been any movement on a deal or any change of heart from LaVine and his desire to be moved from Chicago. “Nothing has changed,” one source close to the situation deadpanned. -via ESPN / December 14, 2024
K.C. Johnson: Torrey Craig has an allergic skin reaction and likely is out, per Donovan. Josh Giddey and Zach LaVine will play. -via Twitter @KCJHoop / December 13, 2024
KC Johnson: Bulls list Nikola Vucevic (illness) and Josh Giddey (low back spasms) questionable vs. Hornets. Zach LaVine (low back spasms) is probable, as is Lonzo Ball. For Hornets, Miles Bridges is questionable with bone bruise in right knee. LaMelo Ball, Grant Williams, Tre Mann are out -via Twitter @KCJHoop / December 12, 2024
“I think the thing we’re struggling with right now is defense obviously, but with four guards we’re a little small right now,” guard Zach LaVine said of life without Williams. “Some games Zo (Lonzo Ball) will come in and play the four or I’ll play the four and it’s like, ‘OK, we’ve got to get a stop or outscore them.’ One of the two.” -via Chicago Sun-Times / December 12, 2024
