Bradley Beal: “Coach Donovan embarrassed me so bad in front of the team before we played Rutgers. He told me, ‘Brad, this whole session is about you.’ He showed clips of me standing with my arms crossed and said, ‘You think you’re doing good, huh? Look at your body language. Bradley Beal: “D.C. made that change in the front office. I’m not going to lie, love them to death, but them boys didn’t waste no time. They said, ‘Hey B, we think it’s time. Let’s turn this chapter, let’s get you somewhere where you can win, allow us to get some pieces back to rebuild this thing and do it the right way.’ And when I heard that, I said, you know what? My parents didn’t know, my brothers didn’t know, my friends didn’t know, my high school coach didn’t know, my AAU coaches didn’t know. Only me and Billy Donovan. They had just come off two championships. He said, ‘I’m not guaranteeing you’ll start. I’m not guaranteeing you play time, but you’ll come here, work hard every day to get better, and become a man by the time you leave.’ That’s very important versus other coaches who’ll give you this, that, or even offer a house for your parents.
