Industries That Will be Going Online 100%.

When the COVID pandemic hit, businesses were forced to operate remotely and adapt to the landscape. Everything was able to be delivered through a touch of a button especially when before, many businesses were hesitant to go online. Take premium restaurants for example, they viewed food delivery apps as beneath them, wanting the customer to visit the restaurant and enjoy the dining experience. However when the lockdown came, and restaurants were forced to close, all of them started selling their products on food delivery platforms.

Innovation has accelerated massively in the past two years because of COVID, check out our guide to new computer technologies that will appear this year.

This has occurred in many industries and we are going to list a few, on how software will eventually replace the brick and mortar stores of the past. So let’s get started, here are some industries that have a bright future online:

Entertainment

Netflix has come an exceptionally long way in such a short space of time. Today, not only are they one of the largest distributors of content, but also one of the largest producers. Awards ceremonies like the Golden Globes and the Oscars are dominated by Netflix productions and with other huge companies like Apple and Disney heavily invested in streaming, it looks as if home streaming is becoming the norm. This begs the question on what will happen to cinemas, and whether the business model will survive in the 21st century.

Moreover, also in the entertainment industry, land based casinos are struggling compared to their online counterparts. Nothing can beat the glamour of going to a casino such as in Macau, however the ease and convenience of playing online is unmatched. Asian players can only go to specific places to play their favourite games such as blackjack and roulette, but with a VPN, they can access casinos anytime. Using a trusted online gambling portal will assist in legal advice for Asian players, provide expert tips and guides and also recommend reputable sites with safe payment methods.

Education

When COVID hit, many university students were in a difficult position. Lectures were made online via streaming platforms such as Zoom, and were forced into lockdown in their dormitories. Education, traditionally has always been land based, with students going to the classroom or lecture halls to learn. Granted for younger students, online working can affect their concentration, with many schools struggling with engaging curriculum. Nonetheless, it is still in its infancy with teachers testing strategies to see what works and what doesn’t.

For adult learners, learning online provides the ultimate convenience, to study from their laptop or phone at any time of choosing. Language apps like Babbel are a great example of this. They allow students to learn via the app and also provide language lessons with accredited teachers on their platform. Online, you can literally learn anything and in most cases for free. Many experts put out courses on platforms like YouTube, and if you are looking for more content you can visit platforms that sell online courses such as Udemy or Gumroad.

Food/Grocery Delivery

Having your favourite takeaway is now done from a food delivery app, with calling up or even visiting a local eatery out of the question. Shopping for your groceries though still does require on the whole to visit the store, pick out the products and take them home. Many supermarkets do offer an online delivery service, but it still needs to be streamlined and faster to become the norm. Most small local shops do not have apps that you can order from, which will be an interesting trend going forward. Food delivery app development becomes more challenging as there are apps like Uber and GrubHub on the market, but having your own delivery app can become a competitive advantage for small local shops. Perhaps the future will just be one of delivery drivers on mopeds — literally delivering everything meaning people will not even have to leave their house.

On food apps such as Bolt Food or Uber Eats, there are not just food establishments, but many different stores utilizing the app’s logistics. There is a diverse list of everything from mobile phone products to butchers and with phone adoption and literacy growing, these styles of apps will see many land stores listing their products on them to boost their revenues. In the future, we may see stores available on apps but you will not be able to visit in person, with returns also being collected if possible. Amazon, of course started this business with books and has since branched out into all goods recently even starting Amazon Groceries.
