Zero Day: Who Is Anna Sindler & Is She Involved In The Attack?

The question of Anna Sindler is one of the biggest mysteries in Netflix’s Zero Day, and here’s who she is and if she was involved in the attack. Anna Sindler is one of the first characters that the audience meets in Zero Day, with her being a journalist that is meeting with former president George Mullen about his autobiography. During the Zero Day Attack, she is seemingly killed. However, George Mullen doesn’t believe that she is actually dead, with much of the Netflix miniseries’ story being dedicated to investigating her death.
Zero Day stars Robert De Niro as George Mullen, a former president who is suddenly pulled out of retirement after a devastating cyber attack destabilizes the world. Mullen’s popularity leads to him being appointed the head of the Zero Day Commission, a task force designed to track down who was behind the attacks. However, Mullen quickly realizes that the conspiracy runs much deeper than it seems, with him using the comission to investigate loose ends like Anna Sindler.

Throughout Zero Day, Robert De Niro’s George Mullen is constantly questioning what happened to Anna Sindler, with him even sending Jesse Plemons’ Roger Carlson on a quest to track her down. Although Anna Sindler reportedly died mere minutes after leaving George Mullen’s house, the former president believes that he has seen her since then. Mullen keeps spotting Anna Sindler among crowds, with him becoming convinced that she lived through the Zero Day Attack.

As it turns out, this isn’t the case. George Mullen was merely having visions of Anna Sindler, with Roger Carlson discovering that she actually did die during the Zero Day Attack. George Mullen’s visions of Anna Sindler have two causes. It could be that George Mullen’s mind is actually fading, with an undiagnosed brain issue leading to his visions. It could also be that George Mullen is being affected by Proteus, the secret NSA weapon designed to trigger brain injuries from a distance.
