Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco Are Releasing an Album About Their ‘Love Story’

The only thing cuter than making an album of love songs with your fiancé is announcing that album on Valentine’s Day. So, score one for Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco, who revealed today that they’ve collaborated on a new album, I Said I Love You First.

Just before midnight on February 13, Gomez shared with her Instagram followers that her next album is a joint project with “my best friend,” her fiancé, Benny Blanco. “We can’t wait to share this special project with you soon!” she captioned a carousel of images, which include the album’s artwork (the two photographed in bed through a keyhole) as well as a candid snap of them cuddling.

The project brings the couple back to their roots—Blanco and Gomez first collaborated 10 years ago on “Same Old Love,” which Blanco produced with Stargate. They worked together again in 2019, on Blanco’s song “I Can’t Get Enough,” which also featured J Balvin and Tainy.

Gomez hasn’t released an album since 2020’s Rare, which she followed up with her Spanish language EP, Revalación. She also appears on the Emilia Pérez’s soundtrack.

This will indeed be an album celebrating love. Per the album’s website, ISILYF “celebrates the pair’s love story, giving fans a unique window into their relationship.”

“This album came together organically as a direct result of the comfort that they both felt when working together creatively, allowing them to produce art that authentically reflects their experiences,” the site reads. “It chronicles their entire story—before they met, falling in love, and looking to what the future holds.”

Is there a single?

Yes! Gomez and Blanco dropped the first single, “Scared of Loving You,” at the same time that they announced the album.
