Man in his 40s dies after being pulled from river in mysterious circumstances
A man died shortly after being pulled from a freezing river in Norwich early Saturday morning.
Norfolk Police said they received reports of a man entering the River Wensum near the Novi Sad Friendship Bridge around 4:30 am on Saturday.
The man is believed to have been Asian, about 5’9” and in his forties, was pulled from the waters shortly after and taken to hospital, where he later died.
Police said: ‘Anyone who may have been in the Riverside area of Norwich in the early hours of Saturday and who may have seen anything, or who has relevant dashcam or mobile phone footage is asked to contact Norfolk Police.’
He was wearing a black North Face puffer jacket, a wide-brimmed hat, black trousers and carrying a large black bag.
His death is being treated as unexplained, police said, but his next of kin have been informed.
