The Office Stars Have Their First Mini Reunion Since Jenna Fisher’s Cancer Story Update

The Office cast members have a mini reunion in a heartwarming new image following Jenna Fischer’s cancer update. First airing on NBC in 2005, the hit sitcom serves as an American remake of the British show of the same name created by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant. Steve Carell leads The Office‘s cast as bumbling manager Michael Scott, with supporting cast members including John Krasinski and Rainn Wilson. Known for playing receptionist Pam Beesly in the show, Fischer revealed via social media post in October that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer but, following treatment, is now cancer-free.

Mindy Kaling, who played Kelly Kapoor in the show, now shares a new image on Instagram of her reunited with Fischer, Angela Martin actor Angela Kinsey, and Erin Hannon actor Ellie Kemper. Kaling includes a thoughtful caption with the image, celebrating the 20th anniversary of when they all first met and the “joys and challenges” they’ve encountered since. With Christmas approaching, Kaling ends her caption with her favorite holiday Michael line. Check out her post and caption below:

It’s been 20 years since I first met these beautiful women! This year was a rollercoaster to say the least, and it’s so nice to be able to unpack life’s joys and challenges with people who knew me when I was a 24 year old customer service rep in the Scranton branch of Dunder Mifflin. I love you guys! ETA. I know this was too sincere so I will add my favorite Michael Scott quote about Christmas, which is: “Guess who I am sitting here dressed as. I will give you a hint- his last name is Christ. He has the power of flight and he can heal leopards.” 🎄❤️🐆

Kaling’s three costars all commented on her post as well, with Fischer writing: “I love you all so much! So lucky to have you in my life all these years later!” Kemper writes: “Abbahahahahaaa I was leaving a comment to the sincere post but now will edit to just say ahhabahahahaaa love you ladies.” Finally, Kinsey comments that it was “Such a fun night!!!” and includes a heart emoji.

What Kaling’s Reunion Photo Means For The Office’s Cast

Will An On-Screen Reunion Ever Happen?

While actors in shows like The Office often start to feel like family to audiences, it’s important to remember that this dynamic doesn’t always extend to the cast members themselves. Like any work environment, not all actors become close friends, and to some stars, a movie or TV is just a job. Kaling’s latest post affirms that this isn’t the case for The Office, at least not with these four stars.

Fischer and Kinsey, especially, have remained close since The Office‘s finale, and they now cohost a podcast called Office Ladies in which they share fun behind-the-scenes stories relating to each episode. Although some cast members have clearly remained close all these years later, a revival of the show with the original stars doesn’t seem like it’s on the cards. A reboot of The Office is already confirmed to be on the way, and this new show is expected to leave Dunder Mifflin behind to chronicle the daily lives of reporters at a failing Midwestern newspaper.

Though a proper Office revival may not be on the horizon, it’s heartwarming to see some key actors from the show enjoying each other’s company all these years later. The NBC show is now among the most-watched and most beloved sitcoms of all time, standing with shows like Friends and Seinfeld as a game-changing series in the larger TV landscape. With so many platforms to consume TV these days, it seems unlikely another show like The Office will come along anytime soon, especially one that stands the test of time nearly 20 years after its debut.
