The UK’s cheapest place to live where average homes cost just £52k

A new report reveals the area in the country where you can buy a home for as little as £20,000 with the average house costing just over £50k.

For people seeking to buy their first home, the cost of living and soaring inflation had made owning a house seem nothing more than a pipe dream.

However, for those willing to relocate to Bradford, the prospect of buying is a lot more attainable.

A report by Cardinal Steels and Online Marketing Surgery have revealed the top 10 cheapest places in the UK to live with Barkerend West & Little Germany, in Bradford, West Yorkshire coming out on top.

With a median house price of just over £50,000, properties are incredibly more affordable compared to other areas of the UK – the average figure across the entire nation stands at £293,000, with London being the highest at £526,000.

On Rightmove, there are several properties listed for less than the average price in Barkerend West & Little Germany with one studio flat costing just £20,000.

Not only can buyers snap up a house for £241k cheaper than the average UK home, but the area holds huge architectural significance with buildings that are so beautiful it’s classed as a conservation area. The neoclassical style of the town also hints at an Italian influence with many buildings listed.

A conservation area is an “area of special architectural or historic interest the character or appearance of which is desirable to preserve or enhance” , says the Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas Act 1990.

However, Bradford isn’t the only area where individuals can purchase homes for a reasonable price.
