Starmer hasn’t gotten off to the best start, with farmer protests breaking out in force following the new changes to inheritance tax for farmers.

The government has also faced backlash after cutting the Winter Fuel Payment, which will leave some pensioners struggling to heat their homes this winter.

Since the Labour government was elected, it has lost several by-elections. After just five months in power, polls suggest the party has significantly decreased in popularity.

Earlier this month, Labour’s vote collapsed, allowing the Liberal Democrats to swoop in and take the seat of Chipping Norton on West Oxfordshire District Council.

Chancellor Rachel Reeves was met with criticism after announcing the Budget in October, which contained some unpopular policies.

Despite this, Labour won the General Election by a landslide and is the first Labour government in 14 years, leading some to speculate the government is just facing teething problems.
