An urgent search has been launched to find a man who bit a woman in the chest inside a London nightclub.

A woman in her 20s was inside a venue on Lisle Street, Westminster, when the man she was speaking to suddenly leant forward and bit her on the chest in April.

The man, who told the victim he was 42, then left the club a short time later.

The woman said he spoke with a ‘European accent’.

The Metropolitan Police has released CCTV footage of a man, who appears to be wearing a fedora, they would like to speak to in connection with the incident.

They said: ‘Police are appealing for assistance in identifying a man in connection with a sexual assault in Westminster.

‘At around 2:30hrs on 26 April, the victim was in a nightclub in Lisle Street, WC2.

‘The woman, aged in her 20s, was speaking to a man when he leant forward and bit her on the chest.

‘The victim did not require hospital treatment.’

It comes as eight in 10 young women have reported experiencing sexual harassment of assault in London in the last two years, research has found.

The research was conducted in part with the Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime and The National Lottery Community Fund.

But the research revealed another worrying factor in the abuse – more than half of the ethnic women surveyed said the sexual harassment or assault they experienced was related directly to their racial or ethnic identity.
