UK police officer arrested on suspicion of terrorism for supporting Hamas

He was arrested on suspicion of providing support for a proscribed organisation in the UK

A serving British police officer has been arrested on suspicion of supporting the Palestinian militant group Hamas.

The Gloucestershire Police constable was detained at a property in Gloucester by officers from Counter Terrorism Policing South West on suspicion of a terrorism offence.

The officer, who is in his 30s, was arrested on suspicion of providing support for a proscribed organisation contrary to Section 12 of the Terrorism Act 2000.
