Anti-Trump protesters get into tense standoff outside Penn Station

Several hundred counter-protestors and protesters stared each other down and exchanged insults near Penn Station about a half-mile from Madison Square Garden.

Police set up a barrier in front of some of the protesters amid the standoff. About 50 to 70 Trump supporters waived flags in front of roughly 400 demonstrators who railed against the former president.

So far, it doesn’t appear that the two groups have clashed, but many demonstrators had incendiary signs, including ones with Nazi swastikas. They also chanted slogans including “Trump’s a traitor!” and “Trump’s a fascist!”

Other chants of “No dictators; no Nazis; no Trump!” “F— Donald Trump,” “Vote blue” and “Lock him up!” were heard from the anti-Trump protesters. Many of them also played drums and danced in front of the Trump supporters.

Trump supporters countered with shouts of their own. None of the rival crowds of protesters appears to have crossed sides the divided line between the two factions.
