Silent Hill 2 Remake: All Elevator Quiz Answers & How To Get Your Reward

The “Trick or Treat” elevator quiz is just one returning feature in Silent Hill 2 Remake, posing a series of questions based on Silent Hill lore. You’ll have a chance to claim valuable rewards by entering the correct answer key in a Decorative Box as your investigation of Brookhaven Hospital moves forward. While die-hard fans of the original title might think they have all the answers, the game has changed slightly, requiring some revision beforehand.

There’s no shortage of puzzles in Silent Hill 2 Remake, from the poetic coin puzzle at Wood Side Apartments to the jukebox puzzle in Neely’s Bar. Often, items you find as you explore tie in with their solutions, progressing the story and opening new doors – sometimes literally. The “Trick or Treat” radio show segment that plays during your elevator ride at the hospital works similarly. In-game details can give you the answers you need. Still, it’s tough to test well in such dire circumstances, and there are consequences to face with each wrong answer.

On the second floor of Brookhaven Hospital in Silent Hill 2 Remake, you’ll enter the elevator after opening a puzzle box, and your ride will be interrupted by a radio talk show called “Trick or Treat.” The segment features several challenging Silent Hill trivia questions, but you can’t give the answers right away. Instead, you’ll need to return to the hospital’s first floor later on with Maria to enter your answers into the Decorative Box.

Answer correctly, and you’ll be rewarded. However, partially incorrect or incorrect answers will result in James taking some or significant damage, and the box will remain permanently locked. To be clear, you can bypass this puzzle entirely by simply not answering if you’d rather not risk the consequences. But if you’re confident in your answers, then it’s worth it to get your hands on the rewards.

Silent Hill 2 Remake’s Elevator Quiz Answers

All Quiz Questions, Multiple Choice Options, And Correct Answers

The “Trick or Treat” radio show features three quiz questions to test your knowledge of Silent Hill’s lore during your elevator ride, as showcased by GosuNoob on YouTube. You’ll need to keep the answers in your back pocket until you can return, giving you some time to think about each response.

Until then, the solutions can be found throughout the game with a thorough investigation, but it’s easy to miss small details or forget bits of information as you brave the nightmarish town. With IGN‘s findings, we’ve outlined all three questions, the numbered multiple-choice options provided within the episode, and the correct answers and final code in the quiz box below.

QUESTION

CHOICE OPTIONS

CORRECT ANSWER

WHERE TO FIND

How many souls died during the plague in Silent Hill?

  1. 42
  2. 67
  3. 85

2. 67

This answer is detailed on a memorial in Rosewater Park.

What road leads from Sanders Street to the lumber yard and the cemetery?

  1. Bachman Road
  2. Munson Street
  3. Wiltse Road

3. Wiltse Road

You can check your map to see where Wiltse Road leads to both the lumber yard and the cemetery.

Billy Locane was one of two children who were murdered in Silent Hill. What was the name of the other victim, Billy’s sister?

  1. Miriam
  2. Heather
  3. Julia

1. Miriam

This detail is part of a newspaper article found in Wood Side Apartments.

While it certainly helps to get the exact details of each question’s answer right, all you’ll really need to remember is the three-digit code you get from all three numbered choice options. The final code is: 2-3-1. Keep this in mind until you can reach the Decorative Box and plug in your answers to the “Trick or Treat” quiz.

Where To Find & How To Open The Trick Or Treat Box

Head To The Pharmacy & Enter The Code

The Decorative Box for the “Trick or Treat” radio quiz is located in the Pharmacy on the first floor of Brookhaven Hospital. You’ll find the box on a table in the back corner of the room. When you interact with it, you can use the buttons to enter the three-digit code that corresponds with the quiz answers. The columns and rows are marked accordingly, so pay close attention and punch in the code 2-3-1 to open it.

There’s a
save point
right outside the Pharmacy. Be sure to save before you access the box, as this will give you a fail-safe in case you accidentally enter an incorrect code.

If you answer all three trivia questions correctly, the box will open, and you’ll receive the following rewards:

  • x5 Shotgun Shells
  • x2 Syringes

If you make a mistake entering the code and wind up with a partial or incorrect answer, the box will stay locked for good, barring you from claiming its contents. James will also take a bit of damage with one or two wrong answers and significantly more with three. This won’t be enough to kill him, but low health can spell bad news in future encounters with enemies.

How The Elevator Puzzle Is Different In Silent Hill 2 Remake

Compared to its original, the “Trick or Treat” quiz questions and answers are almost entirely different in Silent Hill 2 Remake. While the context of two out of the three questions is similar, quizzing the player on the names of murder victims and the best routes to reach Silent Hill landmarks, the nitty-gritty details and even the final answer key differ in a big way. What was once 3-1-3 is now 2-3-1. If you were hoping to get a perfect score based on prior knowledge alone, James would wind up pretty hurt, so it’s best to brush up on the town’s history as you play.
