Five stars who could join Team AEW to face Jon Moxley and the new BCC

AEW is under attack.

Jon Moxley, Marina Shafir, Claudio Castagnoli, Pac and Wheeler Yuta have been on a rampage. On Wednesday’s edition of Dynamite, Moxley confirmed that he’s ready for war against AEW. He isn’t happy with the state of the company and wants to forcefully change its direction.

With such a strong stable beside Moxley, AEW’s roster must find a way to defend itself. This is the perfect opportunity for Tony Khan and the creative team to begin making new stars by elevating some of their homegrown or younger talents.

As such, we should expect to see the formation of another stable, one designed to defend AEW from its internal attack. Here are the five stars who could step up and defend the company from its current champion and his rabid team while also raising their stock and taking another step toward stardom.

1. Will Ospreay

If Moxley is the current face of AEW, then Ospreay is next in line. He has been an enormous fan favorite since joining from New Japan Pro Wrestling and would instantly bring a new level of interest to the storyline. AEW would need to figure out a way to integrate his current story arc with the Don Callis Family in order to make everything work. If you’re running the biggest story in the company’s history, though, Ospreay must be part of it.

2. Darby Allin

There’s no doubt that Allin will be part of Team AEW. He’s cut too many promos about his love for the company for him not to step up and defend the promotion that gave him his big break. He’s also been floated as a potential future champion and deserves the type of push this feud could provide. His penchant for hardcore matches would also give the creative team plenty of scope.

3. Daniel Garcia

Garcia is another babyface who could receive a huge push against Moxley and the revamped Blackpool Combat Club. He recently announced he’s signed an extension with the company and would greatly benefit from an opportunity to be a staple in the main event rotation for the coming months. Finding a way to put a championship on his waist would further strengthen his chances of becoming a star.

4. Swerve Strickland

AEW is Swerve’s house. It makes sense that he would want to defend it. Furthermore, Moxley is the current champion. If Swerve wants an opportunity to put the gold back around his waist, joining Team AEW would be his best bet. Interestingly, that could lead to some in-house issues further down the line, with Allin and Swerve both fighting for the same prize. Nothing sells like the good guys turning bad, especially when one of them is among the highest-paid stars on the roster.

5. Luchasaurus

Team AEW needs a powerhouse. Luchasaurus could easily fit the bill, especially when factoring in his exciting athleticism. He’s been stuck in what feels like the slowest-moving storyline in wrestling history as he continues to be mistreated by Cristian Cage. Having him turn on the Patriarchy would be an easy sell and allow him to have a shot at increasing his reputation among the wider fan base. However, Luchasaurus’ addition would need to be put on hold to begin with as he continues to recover from pneumonia in both lungs.
