Hunt for 6ft 8ins man after ‘large amounts of cash stolen from eight mosques’

Detectives have released images of a man they ‘urgently need to speak to’ in relation to a nationwide series of mosque burglaries.

‘Large amounts of cash’ were stolen from eight mosques around the country over the past year, the Metropolitan Police says.

The man, Anthony Cheike, was described as being around 6ft 8ins tall and 55 years old.

He was said to be currently sporting a shaved, balding head and stubble.

Mr Cheike was last seen in Mitcham, south London, in May.

The Met said he is wanted in connection with 12 alleged offences including bail violations, failure to appear in court and burglary.

Detectives are urging anyone who recognises him to contact police.
