University student dies after ‘medical incident’ during workout at the gym

A university student has died after a ‘medical incident’ at the gym.

The man, aged in his 20s, had been using equipment inside the University of East Anglia’s Sportspark when the episode happened.

He was treated by paramedics when emergency services arrived there shortly after 7pm yesterday but later declared dead at the scene.

A spokesperson for the university confirmed a student had died and the site would remain closed.

In a statement, Norfolk Police said: ‘Police can confirm a man has died following an incident at the University of East Anglia (UEA).
