Andrés Felipe Valencia Barrientos, 29, known by stage name Yung Filly, was arrested in Brisbane on Tuesday and extradited to Perth, over 4,000 km away, to attend a court hearing the next day.

Barrientos has been charged with four counts of sexual penetration without consent, three counts of assault occasioning bodily harm and one count of impeding a person’s normal breathing or circulation by applying pressure on, or to, their neck.

“This investigation is ongoing and Sex Assault Squad detectives urge anyone with information relating to this matter, or any similar incidents, to call Crime Stoppers,” Western Australia Police said.

Barrientos was charged on Thursday and has had his request for bail approved. He is alleged to have assaulted a woman in her 20s in a Perth hotel room after performing at a venue in the region on 28 September.

The social media star rose to fame as a member of the YouTube collective Beta Squad as well as Sidemen. He has since pivoted to a music career as a rap artist and won a MOBO Award for best media personality in 2021 alongside his Beta Squad colleague Chunkz.

He was touring his music at the time of the alleged assault.

Barrientos has also appeared regularly on British television, including Soccer Aid 2020 and The Great Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up To Cancer.
