Formal identification has not yet taken place, but officers say the bodies are believed to be that of a 72-year-old woman and a 74-year-old man.

In a statement, the force said a rifle had been recovered from the property and a dog was also found dead at the address.

The force said the couple’s next of kin were being supported.
