Halloween mask wearing duo nabbed for stealing $8K in Magic: The Gathering cards from comic store

They fell prey to the dork side.

Two nerdy burglars were busted this week for allegedly robbing a Tennessee comic book store of thousands of dollars of Magic: The Gathering cards while wearing low-quality Halloween masks.

The delinquent duo allegedly broke into Grand Adventures Comic and Games in Murfreesboro on Tuesday, making off with an estimated $8,000 worth of collectible cardboard gaming cards, according to investigators.

Surveillance video shows one man wearing a nun mask and habit – in the style of the heist movie “The Town” – and the other wore what appears to be a Michael Meyers mask.

Their disguises did not put police off their scent for too long.

Philip Clodfelter, 42, and Kelly Garner, 64, were arrested after cops pulled over their car due to erratic driving.

An officer immediately recognized the masks and said that the Magic: the Gathering cards were sitting in plain sight inside the vehicle, according to the Musfreeboro Police Department.

Cops say Clodfelter and Garner also tried to burgle another store that same night – Grand Slam Collectibles – but were unable to gain entry.

The pair are now suspected of committing similar burglaries at comic stores in Brentwood and Nashville, according to Musfreeboro detectives.

Each is being held on $48,000 bond at the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center.

They face multiple charges including burglary, theft and vandalism.

Earlier this summer, it was revealed on “Fox & Friends” that Republican vice presidential candidate J.D. Vance was an avid Magic: The Gathering player – his wife calling it the dorkiest thing about the Ohio senator.

Vance said in an August interview that he stopped playing while younger.

He told “Semafor”, “The big problem with transitioning from being a 13-year-old who likes Magic: the Gathering to being a 15-year-old who likes Magic: the Gathering is that 15-year-old girls do not like Magic: the Gathering.”

“So I dropped it like a bad habit,” Vance added.
