Tom Kerridge shares one thing that won’t feature on his Michelin-starred menus

Celebrated chef Tom Kerridge has made a surprising revelation about his menu choices.

The 51-year-old gastronomic maestro, whose The Hand and Flowers restaurant boasts two Michelin stars, took to TikTok to answer a burning question from fan John McKay.

When asked on TikTok by fan John McKay: “What is the one ingredient that will never enter your kitchen?”, Kerridge responded with a clear culinary boundary.

He said: “Do you know what there’s quite a lot of, like, exotic style meats, you know.

“Things like ostrich or crocodile or it’s just nothing that would ever, ever, ever make an appearance on our menus.”

This declaration may disappoint those with a penchant for more out-there foods, but Kerridge’s menus indeed show no sign of such fare.

Kerridge, who launched his first venture, The Hand and Flowers, back in February 2005, has since seen his establishments garner critical acclaim, with The Coach in Buckinghamshire also receiving a Michelin star on December 1, 2015.

His latest culinary endeavour, The Butcher’s Tap and Grill, opened its doors in Chelsea on December 5, 2023, following the success of his third eatery – also named The Butcher’s Tap, which began welcoming diners in Buckinghamshire on November 17, 2017.

The chef also confessed his disdain for a particular aspect of food preparation, stating: “The idea now of doing two, picking two boxes of spinach is just like, that’s my worst nightmare.”
