Oakley Carlson’s foster mom tried to tell authorities she was in danger

The foster mother of 6-year-old Oakley Carlson, who was allegedly “eaten by wolves,” claims she repeatedly warned authorities the girl was in danger.

Oakley had been in foster mom Jamie Jo Hiles’ care for more than two years before she was returned to her biological parents in 2019.

Hiles said she warned Washington Department of Children, Youth and Families officials they were “imposing irrevocable damage” to the girl by rushing to return her to the custody of Jordan Bowers and Andrew Carlson, who have been accused of exposing their other children to methamphetamine, Fox News reported Saturday.

Jordan Bowers and Andrew Carlson are being held under suspicion of manslaughter.

Oakley hadn’t been seen in nearly a year when authorities arrested Bowers and Carlson in December, on second-degree child abandonment charges. The pair, who allegedly withheld vital medicine from their daughter for 15 months and failed to report her disappearance, are also being held under suspicion of manslaughter.

“They need to investigate, because something obviously is very wrong with an agency that doesn’t listen to warnings about children and child abuse,” Hiles said. “That is terrifying to me.”

She said she also made two calls to child protective services after Oakley was out of her care but received no response.

Her 6-year-old sister told her principal’s daughter “Oakley is no more,” and she “had gone out into the woods and had been eaten by wolves,” according to police records obtained by Seattle’s KCPQ. She also reportedly told police that their mother, Jordan Bowers, “told her not to talk about Oakley.”
