Woman killed in crash days before Christmas with ‘blood and presents everywhere’
Police are investigating after a 72-year-old woman pedestrian was hit and killed by a car in Bootle, Liverpool this evening. A massive police cordon has been erected following a horrific crash that scattered Christmas gifts across the road.
Emergency services were called at 7.45pm following a collision between a blue Ford Focus and a 72-year-old woman pedestrian on Brewster Street, near to the Brewster Street Garages. The injured woman was taken to hospital, where she sadly died a short time later.
A fleet of at least 12 police vehicles attended the scene of the collision. One onlooker disclosed to the Liverpool Echo that “There was blood everywhere.” Another bystander described seeing “bags and Christmas presents all over the floor” adjacent to the accident site.
Police confirmed the driver of the car stopped at the scene.
Chief Inspector Andy Foster, said: “We are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward. We are also appealing to any motorists who may have dashcam footage to get in touch. The woman’s family has been informed and are being supported by officers.”
