The Princess of Wales is marking her 43rd birthday today after a tumultuous 2024.

Birthday wishes are already flowing in for Kate Middleton as she looks to celebrate her big day with Prince William and her three children.

Prince William wrote a touching message on X reading: ‘To the most incredible wife and mother. The strength you’ve shown over the last year has been remarkable. George, Charlotte, Louis and I are so proud of you. Happy Birthday, Catherine. We love you. W.’

The royal family has wished the Princess of Wales a happy day, with a message reading: ‘Happy Birthday to The Princess of Wales!’

The X account also shared a photo of Kate smiling this past Christmas as she took a bouquet from well-wishers outside of Sandringham.

Last month, the princess opened up about the ‘darkest of times’ in her annual Christmas letter.

The princess will celebrate her birthday after a challenging past 12 months which saw her undergo abdominal surgery, be diagnosed with cancer and face chemotherapy treatment.

Prince William also said 2024 was the ‘hardest year’ of his life after Kate was diagnosed with an undisclosed form of cancer.

But the Princess has still had a triumphant year, celebrating her 13th wedding anniversary, working with charities and returning to public duties after months of treatment.

In June, she attended Trooping the Colour after spending months in recovery.

While details of their conditions and treatments have been kept private, the Prince of Wales revealed the past year has been ‘brutal’ for the family.

The Princess of Wales underwent abdominal surgery at the London Clinic on January 16 for what was then believed to be a non-cancerous condition.

Kate spoke about her cancer treatment in a deeply personal video released earlier this year, in which she described the experience as ‘incredibly tough for us as a family’.

Over clips of the couple walking in a forest with their three children, she said her focus was on ‘doing what I can to stay cancer-free’.
