Patrons snowed in at pub for 48 hours have ‘tender heads’ after boozy lock in
Dozens of people who have been snowed in at Britain’s highest pub after a brutal arctic blast are feeling a touch worse for wear after a “boozy lock in”.
Almost 30 pub goers who had trekked to Tan Hill Inn in North Yorkshire – which is 528 metres (1,732 ft) above sea level – were today still holed up in the world famous boozer following the heavy snowfall.
Despite amber warnings of snow, 23 guests attended the pub and have remained cut off ever since, along with six staff who were on duty.
Those trapped include a four-year-old child and furry friend in the form of a dog.
However, it hasn’t been all bad as those holed up have taken to watching films, having snowball fights and cracking open some drinks.

Nicole Hayes, manager of the snowed in Tan Hill Inn, said guests are nursing sore heads after partying the night away with a bottle of scotch.
Speaking on The Chris Moyles show on Radio X Nicole said: “I think everyone’s got a bit of a tender head from our party last night. So, the pub’s very silent this morning.
“We had a chilled day; we had a little movie day. We had our snowball fight. We all came in, warmed back up, had a movie day, watched The Goonies, and had some tea.
“People went and got showered and bathed and stuff, came back down, and then we just partied the night away!
“There was scotch going all day.”
Nicole, who has worked at the pub for four and half years, added that people even showcased their musical talents and played the guitar in the bar.
The pub, which also operates seven guest rooms, made global headlines in 2021 when 50 people got stuck in the pub after watching an Oasis tribute band.
Owner Andrew Hields said: “There is a long tradition of hospitality at the Tan Hill Inn which myself and the team are proud to continue. Its height and isolation make it a special, and sometimes precarious, place to visit but we’ll make sure those guests and staff who are stranded will be well looked after.”
