‘Lovely’ teenage boy found dead on river bank in ‘unexplained’ circumstances

This is the first picture of a “lovely” teenager tragically found dead on the banks of a river.

Police say they are treating the death of Connor Lyons, 17, as “unexplained” at this stage.

His body was found next to the river Hull at 8.20am on Tuesday.

Tributes have since poured in for Connor, reports Hull Live, with many people sharing their heartfelt condolences on social media.

One man, who had known the teenager, said: “He was very much like me.

“A lovely lad, I would call him a loveable rogue at school and he used to laugh his head off.”

Another friend posted: “RIP mate, can’t believe it. Another young lad taken far too soon.

“Sending all love to friends and family. This world is a really crazy world we live in.”

One woman added: “RIP Connor, condolences to your family. Forever with the angels that are with you now, far too young to die.”

Another said: “Absolutely heartbreaking, rest in peace Connor, forever young. Thinking of the family.”

Humberside Police said a post-mortem had been due to take place yesterday. Specialist officers continue to support the family.

A spokesperson for the force said: “The man who was sadly found dead in Ennerdale, Hull, yesterday has been named as 17-year-old local man Connor Lyons.

“We were called at 8.20am yesterday following the discovery of Mr Lyon’s body on the bank of the River Hull.

“Today, officers are continuing to investigate the circumstances of Mr Lyon’s death, which is being treated as unexplained.

“A post mortem examination is due to take place today and we’re supporting his family at this very difficult time.

“Out of respect for Mr Lyons and his family, we ask that you do not speculate about the circumstances of his death online.

“If you have information that could assist our investigation, please call our non-emergency 101 line, quoting log number 80 of 19 January.”
