A mum who is receiving treatment for stage four cancer was “broken out” of hospital by her children to watch the Champions League final.

Tracey Naughton, 55, was diagnosed with cancer at the beginning of lockdown in 2020 but was told the devastating news on Friday the cancer had spread to her brain.

But the mum of 13-year-old twins, George and Tilly, has not let this stop her watching the Reds take on Real Madrid tonight with all her family, the Liverpool Echo reports.

The huge LFC fan, from Nuneaton, said it took a bit of “negotiating with the doctors” to convince them to let her go home. She told them it was for a “very special occasion”.

Tracey said: “The last two years have been tough for us and the kids, so a lot of the time, the thing that has kept us going is watching the boys in red. It is a big family occasion.

“We got more devastating news as I was taken into hospital yesterday and have found out that the cancer has actually spread to my brain.

“So this is possibly the last time we will all get together and watch this, so go out on a high. I had a bit of negotiating with the doctors and told them I had a very special event that I had to attend.

“I didn’t quite elaborate much more on that until we got in the corridor and we were going down the corridor.”

Tracey’s civil partner Amanda Dockerty shared a video social media of the family “breaking” Tracey out of hospital. In the video, one of Tracey and Amanda’s children can be heard saying “we’re escaping hospital for the Champions League Final.

Holding a LFC banner while being wheeled out, Tracey said in the clip: “The kids are breaking me out of hospital for a few hours.

“There’s no way stage four cancer is going to stop us from watching the match together tonight. Come on you reds.”

Tracey will be celebrating with Amanda, George and Tilly and other family who have travelled to their home to watch the big match.

She said predicts LFC will win either 3-1 or 3-2. Liverpool take on Real Madrid in the final of the Champions League final tonight as Jurgen Klopp’s side look to secure the treble.

The Reds have already achieved a domestic cup double this season – and will want to strike back at Real Madrid after their 3-1 defeat in Kyiv in 2018.
