A busy portion of the Northern line on the London Underground has been suspended due to a fire alert at Elephant & Castle.

There is currently no service northbound between Kennington in south London and Camden Town station in the north, via Bank.

To make matters worse there are severe delays on the Metropolitan line between Harrow-on-the-Hill and Amersham/Chesham/Watford due to an earlier signal failure at Moor Park and minor delays on the Waterloo & City line.

A reduced service is also operating across the DLR network until Sunday and there is a part closure of the London Overground between Clapham Junction and Surrey Quays until later today.

Meanwhile, a section of the A46 in Warwickshire has been closed while emergency services investigate a serious crash.

All lanes in both directions between the A439 (Marraway Roundabout) and the A3400 (Stratford-upon-Avon) are expected to remain shut for the rest of the morning.

A busy portion of the Northern line on the London Underground has been suspended due to a fire alert at Elephant & Castle.

There is currently no service northbound between Kennington in south London and Camden Town station in the north, via Bank.

That includes major stations such as London Bridge, Angel and King’s Cross St Pancras.

It is unclear whether the fire alert was triggered deliberately due to a fire and how long it may take to resolve the situation.

Emergency services on scene at A63

Some more road disruption to report now – police are attending another incident, this time on the A63 in Yorkshire.

The road is closed westbound near Hessle, in Hull, while Humberside Police investigate.

National Highways said an ambulance is also on the scene.

In a tweet, the organisation suggested drivers leave at Mount Pleasant and head west on the A165, then Spring Bank A1105 to re-join the A63 at Western Interchange.

More about the A46 crash

The crash on the A46 this morning was first reported at around 12.45am.

Around seven hours later, all lanes of the road remain closed between the Marraway Roundabout and Stratford-Upon-Avon.

There has been no update from Warwickshire Police on the nature of the incident, but we know the road is likely to stay closed for the rest of the morning.

National Highways has said Warwickshire emergency services remain in attendance.
