An elderly man doing his shopping in Morrisons became the victim of a horrifying attack when he was kicked to the floor by another customer.
CCTV footage from the supermarket shows the older man collecting a basket at the shop’s entrance.
But as he does so, a man wearing a grey hoodie and black tracksuit bottoms approaches from behind and kicks him hard in the legs, causing him to fall heavily to the floor.
The man in the hoodie then continues to walk into the shop as though nothing has happened, reports Nottinghamshire Live.
Less than a minute later, he is then seen exiting the store with no bags or items in his hands.
The elderly man does appear to get back to his feet after the attack, which took place at around 2.40pm on Monday, March 29 at the Morrisons store in Eastwood, Nottinghamshire.
A number of employees then went over to check his condition, according to a police statement.
The incident was then reported to police.
They are now asking anyone with any information to contact Nottinghamshire Police, to help with ongoing investigations.
PCSO Peter Keeley, who is investigating the incident, said: “We received a report that a man had been kicked and knocked on to the floor, and upon visiting the supermarket we were able to review this quite shocking CCTV footage.
“The elderly man was simply going about his food shop and to have this happen to him is absolutely unacceptable.
“As part of the neighbourhood policing team, we’re dedicated to listening to our communities, responding to reports and concerns and acting upon information we receive, and we would reassure people that officers will investigate wherever such a report is made and our enquiries into this incident are ongoing.
“We’re keen to identify the man in grey and would urge anyone who recognises him or anyone who saw the incident to get in touch.”
Anyone who saw the incident or has any information is urged to contact Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident 483 of 1 April 2021.
