Corner of the UK that’s ‘so posh’ drinks in local corner shop cost hefty £4k
This south London district has been crowned the UK’s ‘poshest’ place, where the locals live among celebrities and royals. There’s even a corner shop where you can casually pick up a bottle of wine for more than £4,000.
The newly developed shopping centre and luxury apartment complex at Battersea Power Station hosted its first 100 residents in 2017, following a £9 billion investment.
Many celebs have been spotted pottering about the area, including Bear Grylls, Sting, and even some Royals. Former SAS trooper Bear Grylls is reported to have knocked three properties together to build a huge £20 million apartment.
The average price of a home in the area is an eye-watering £1.2 million, but the price of Battersea Power Station’s rooftop villas trump that almost eight times over.
There’s even a flat so luxurious that it comes with a staff bedroom and office. The four-bed and four-bath apartment went on sale for a whopping £31 million and boasted 360-degree city and river views across London.
Kasea, who works at the power station told the Sun she works for a number of the world’s richest, but didn’t divulge any further details.
She said: “I can’t tell you who I work for but it’s someone pretty famous but there are a lot of famous people who live here, especially in the power station. I even see one of them every single day. I also see Bear Grylls and Sting.
“I’m lucky to work around people who are really from the first pages, even the Queen’s family as well.”
She even spotted 50-year-old Bear Grylls working out on his roof. She said: “Yesterday he was doing pull-ups on the roof, which I could see really clearly.”
Last year The Mirror reported that TV chef Gordon Ramsay and his family had moved into a £12,000 a month apartment in the complex whilst work was underway on their £7 million mansion in Wandsworth.
The Battersea General Store is a convenience shop within the power station, and manager Raj Bathia claims he sees famous people daily and has even served world leaders.
He told The Sun: “You have a lot that come and visit us specially. They’ve heard about us. We’ve seen them in the store, we had the ruler of Dubai in the store recently.”
This is far from your average corner shop, however, as some of the luxury wine on offer in the shop goes up to £4,250 a bottle.
Other luxury shops around Battersea Power Station include Rolex, Cartier, Mulberry, and Searcy’s Champagne Bar.
