A body has been found in the search for a teenage girl who vanished on Sunday evening with her phone switched off.

Seesha Dack had not been seen since about 7pm near Fish Quay in North Shields, near Newcastle, after parting ways with a group of friends.

Today a police boat was pictured searching the River Tyne while a helicopter circled overhead.

Meanwhile specialist search teams combed through a disused warehouse on an industrial estate on the Fish Quay.

Formal identification is yet to take place, but authorities believe a body they found this evening in the Tanners Bank area of North Shields is that of Seesha.

Before her disappearance, the teenager met a small group of friends, with whom she spent a couple of hours before heading home at around 7pm on Sunday.

A huge search operation was launched to find the girl, whose phone was turned off, leaving friends and family unable to contact her.

Seesha had never been reported missing to police before and her disappearance has been described as ‘out of character’.

Speaking earlier today, the girl’s mum Victoria Dack, 33, said: ‘Seesha is a confident, outgoing, happy, bubbly girl. She means the world to us.

‘We just want her home safe. I call her my baby girl. If she is reading this I want to let her know I love her and I miss her. You’re not in any trouble, I just want you home.’

Announcing the discovery of a body, Northumbria Police Superintendent Barrie Joisce said: ‘This is an extremely sad conclusion to an extensive investigation.

‘Specialist officers are currently supporting Seesha’s family during this incredibly difficult time and our thoughts are with them.

‘I want to thank everyone who helped in our search by sharing our appeals, searching the area and those who have phoned us with possible sightings.

‘We will continue to carry out enquiries to establish the circumstances around the death but at this stage we do not believe there to be any third party involvement.’
