Adorable puppies found dumped in carrier bag find forever home

Three puppies have found new forever homes just in time for Christmas after being heartlessly abandoned and left for dead.

The eight-week-old crossbreeds were saved by Jerry Green Dog Rescue, in South Lincolnshire, after being discarded inside a plastic shopping bag.

The rescue centre managed to warm hearts with their heartfelt Instagram appeal, resulting in each of the dogs being snapped up for adoption.

Speaking about the puppies, named Polar, Puffin and Pearl, Jerry Greens said: “Puffin is a lovable pup with a striking blue collar and a big personality to match. At nearly eight-weeks-old, Puffin is the largest of his litter and ready to find a home where he can grow into the gentle giant he’s destined to be.”

Enthusiastically they continued: “Polar is an adorable pup with his signature yellow collar and a heart full of love to share. Pearl is an adorable little pup with a soft pink collar and an even softer heart.”

While the breed of the pups remains shrouded in mystery due to their anonymous abandonment, the rescue’s rehoming message whimsically suggests: “Based on their appearance, they could be a mix of Malamute, Akita, Samoyed, or another wonderful breed – or maybe, just maybe, they’ve got a little polar bear in them! (Okay, probably not, but wouldn’t that be fun? ) A DNA test could reveal his fascinating lineage.”

The pups, having endured a rough beginning, are now thriving after being bottle-fed at the rescue centre. Jerry Greens Dog Rescue is currently seeking loving homes for 21 dogs listed on their website in time for Christmas.

With over 60 years of experience in rehoming dogs, the charity operates from three centres across North Lincolnshire, South Lincolnshire, and Nottinghamshire, and coordinates community support initiatives from East Yorkshire.

Their mission statement honours both the founder and his beloved spaniel: “You’ve probably already realised that our founder, Jerry Green, means a lot to us. He does, but perhaps the biggest credit should go to Rusty, the spaniel we celebrate in our logo, a faithful and loving companion to Jerry Green.”

It continues with the history of the charity: “In 1961, Rusty’s passing inspired his owner to set up a charity to rescue and rehome stray and unwanted dogs, with the aim of revolutionising the quality of life provided to all rescue dogs. Jerry Green believed that far too many dogs were being put to sleep unnecessarily.”

The statement concludes by highlighting Jerry Green’s commitment to animal welfare: “This belief has driven the charity’s activities since the creation of its first rescue centre in Broughton, North Lincolnshire, still in operation today. Jerry Green was passionate about sharing the good practices he established, in order to influence other animal welfare charities. He campaigned and educated to promote the humane treatment of all dogs.”

During a live rehoming appeal for American bulldog cross Stanley, described as “a big goofball who loves to play and run around”, one Facebook user commented: “I’m sure you’ll find your new home very soon Stanley. You’re gorgeous.”

Another added: “Awww Stanley your time will come your sister Lily is keeping her paws crossed for you.”
