It’s been 22 years since Bride Of Chucky crept its way onto our screens. Now, Don Mancini is celebrating the anniversary with a rare photo you’ve probably never seen before.

The photo reveals that Tiffany’s hair originally had a subtle nod to another iconic horror film.

On Oct. 16, Mancini took a break from working on the upcoming Chucky TV series to acknowledge the 22nd birthday of Bride Of Chucky. The film was released back in 1998 and went on to gross more than $1.8 million on its opening weekend.

Mancini took to Twitter to share a throwback photo from the film that most people probably haven’t seen. The image was used for premiere invitations and shows Tiffany with a completely different hairstyle.

Rather than her platinum blonde locks that appear in the thriller film, Tiffany originally had red hair similar to Chucky’s. As well, her red hair included a white streak that might be familiar to some fans of the genre.

Since Mancini’s Bride Of Chucky is a play on the Bride of Frankenstein, the white streak is a nod to Elsa Lanchester who starred in 1935’s Bride Of Frankenstein

“HAPPY 22nd #BrideOfChucky! This little-seen art, featuring an Elsa Lanchester-style grey streak in Tiffany’s hair, was used for the premiere invitations.”

Mancini also shared a rare throwback photo with actress Katherine Heigel on the set of the 1998 film.

Jennifer Tilly, who played Tiffany Valentine in the Child’s Play franchise, celebrated the film’s anniversary with some throwback photos.

“On this day 1998 #BrideOfChucky premiered in theaters and a new sort of evil was released: a cookie baking sexually active super-fertile doll! Happy 22nd Anniversary Tiffany!”

More on Chucky and Child’s Play

Mancini is currently developing a Child’s Play series for SyFy and USA. In July, the first teaser for the highly-anticipated series was released and reveals that Chucky’s tormenting days are far from over.

However, fans might have to wait a bit longer for the series’ premiere. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, production for the series has been delayed until 2021. The show is set to shoot in Toronto and producers are hopeful that the series will arrive on time next year.

Brad Dourif, who has voiced Chucky in various films over the years, is reprising his role for the new series. As well, viewers can expect to see a slew of new and old characters alongside Chucky.

“With this TV show, our mission has been to preserve the straightforward scariness of the original film or the first couple of films,” Mancini said. “But at the same time, continue on with this ever-expanding tapestry of consistent story that we’ve spun over the course of seven movies and 30-some years. I think fans are really gonna love to see the new characters that we introduce into this realm and just to see how they came off of our classic characters. Not just Chucky, but some of the others that you may be hoping to see. There’s a good chance they may turn up.”

Although Mancini and co-creator Nick Antosca are keeping the show as close to the original franchise as possible, it will still offer a “fresh take” viewers haven’t seen before.

“After a vintage Chucky doll turns up at a suburban yard sale, an idyllic American town is thrown into chaos as a series of horrifying murders begin to expose the town’s hypocrisies and secrets,” the show’s synopsis says. “Meanwhile, the arrival of enemies — and allies — from Chucky’s past threatens to expose the truth behind the killings, as well as the demon doll’s untold origins as a seemingly ordinary child who somehow became this notorious monster.”
