The Must-See Sporting Events for 2022

If 2021 was the year in which sport found its feet again, then 2022 is the year it stands tall. Restrictions are dying down, travel is opening up, and we’re preparing for a busy year. Whether you’re looking for some wagers at Caesars sportsbook in Arizona, placing a few bets at Vegas, or just enjoying some live sporting action, these are the events to look out for.
Winter Olympics
The 2022 Winter Olympics begins on February 4 and runs for 16 days. The games are hosted in Beijing, China, and will include events such as Alpine Skiing, Snowboarding, Speed Skating, Biathlon, and Skeleton.
The winter games don’t get as much attention as the summer games, but they offer just as much entertainment and variety. You’ll get two weeks of ice-cold action and will see some of the best snowboarders and skiers in the world.
The FIFA World Cup
The 2022 FIFA World Cup could be one of the strangest yet. It’s being hosted by the small middle-eastern nation of Qatar, one that isn’t exactly known for its prowess on the soccer field (although it has improved significantly recently).
The event will kick off on November 21 and run through to December 18. If that doesn’t sound right to you, it’s because the FIFA World Cup is usually a summer event. It’s typically held in July, but the searing desert heat of Qatar has forced it back to the end of the year. It’ll still be hot, but it will be bearable, and the world’s best players can strut their stuff in several newly-built high-tech stadiums.
Rugby World Cups
The sport of rugby has a growing following in North America and both the US and Canadian teams are getting stronger every year.
2022 is set to be a big year for this sport, as it’ll see the commencement of the Rugby World Cup Sevens (September 9 to 11), the Rugby League World Cup (October 15 to November 19), and the Women’s Rugby Union World Cup (October 8 to November 12).
If you’re just getting into the sport and are keen to learn more about it, 2022 is the year for you.
The Golf US Open
The US Open never fails to disappoint. We have seen some great tournaments in recent years and this could be another nail-biter. Jon Rahm will enter the tournament as the reigning champion, but he’ll have plenty of competition as the best players in the world descend on Brookline, Massachusetts on June 13.
The World Games
The 2022 World Games is the 11th iteration of this event, which was designed to host sports that are not contested in the Olympic Games. 3,600 athletes will compete across 30 different events and it will be hosted in Birmingham, Alabama.
Some of the events scheduled for this July 7-17 competition include archery, fistball, bowling, powerlifting, speedskating, softball, and sumo. It’s a refreshing change from the Olympic Games and gives you a chance to discover sports you’ve never seen before
