Symphonic Launches Women’s Mentorship Program for the Music Industry

In honor of Women’s History Month, Symphonic is launching Women Empowered, a mentorship program aimed at furthering the progress of women throughout the music industry.

Through the program, the independent music distributor will connect mentees with established music industry professionals who will offer valuable guidance and advice while helping open doors in an industry where women have been underrepresented in leadership roles. Mentees will also have the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the music industry’s business practices and culture.

Senior mentors involved with the program include Ana Martinez, senior artist and label relations executive at Amazon Music; Mirella Schnaidman, artist and label partnerships business manager at Spotify; Alyssa Mark, senior director, label member relations at A2IM; and Rebecca Graff, COO at Symphonic. Other mentors include executives from YouTube Music, Songtrust, Audiomack, Atlantic Records and many more.

“Our team has created this program to provide additional opportunities to women in music in this often male-dominated business,” said Janette Berrios, corporate marketing head at Symphonic. “We hope that the connections and relationships built through the program spark growth, support, and create exceptional opportunities for a new generation of women.”

Women Empowered launches on the heels of Symphonic’s recent $37M Series B investment, as well as the company’s expansion into the Los Angeles area. Symphonic will open mentee applications for two weeks beginning on International Women’s Day on Tuesday (March 8). Mentees chosen for the program will be paired with mentors based on availability and skillset.
