6 Restaurants to Visit For Hyatt’s Dining Promo – World news era

Dine in or order takeout from your local Hyatt hotel’s in-house restaurant and you’ll rack up bonus points toward free hotel rooms. That’s thanks to a promotion in which you can earn roughly 30% of your restaurant bill back in the form of World of Hyatt points.

Between now and Feb. 28, World of Hyatt members can earn triple points on dine-in, delivery or takeout at participating hotel restaurants — even when you’re not staying the night at the hotel.

To get those triple points credited to your account, share your World of Hyatt member number with your waiter or at the cash register at the time of payment.

That’s a good incentive to finally dine at that Hyatt restaurant in your neighborhood that you’ve been yearning to try. As it turns out, not all Hyatt restaurants are the overpriced, generic poolside pizza and ice cream that you might expect from most hotels.

Hyatt has some restaurants that are destinations in themselves, like the Park Hyatt Washington D.C.’s Michelin-distinguished Blue Duck Tavern. Or, head to the Andaz Maui at Wailea Resort, where you can dine at Morimoto Maui, led by celebrity chef Masaharu Morimoto of “Iron Chef” fame.

Nerd tip: Points may take two to three weeks to be credited to your account, and there is a cap of 100,000 bonus points that you can earn (though that’s more than $6,500 in spending, so you probably don’t have to worry about hitting that limit).

How much is Hyatt’s 3X dining promotion worth?

All World of Hyatt members (regardless of elite status tier) earn 5 Base Points per eligible $1 spent at Hyatt hotels. With the triple points promotion, that works out to 15 points per dollar spent (we value 15 points at about 30 cents).

Plus, if you hold elite status, you could earn even more: Discoverist members get an additional 10% bonus on eligible purchases while Explorist members get 20%, and it’s 30% for Globalist members.

Say you’re dining lakeside at the Tarpon Bay restaurant inside Florida’s Hyatt Regency Coconut Point Resort and Spa. You order a crispy whole snapper ($45) for you, plus the lemon Parmesan-crusted salmon ($36) for your date. You split the jumbo lump crab cake with queso and avocado creme ($17) as an appetizer, a bottle of rose ($48) to drink and a strawberry-chocolate baked mousse tart ($9) for dessert. The bill is $155 before tax and tip, which means you’ll earn about $45 worth of points from your meal. Not a bad kickback for a fancy seafood date night.

Here’s how that bill shakes out in terms of points:

Non-Stay triple points (the additional 2 points per $1 over your Base Points): 1,510

Total points earned: 2,265 (worth about $45 based on our valuation of 1 point at 2 cents).

Plus, you can stack this offer with any additional credit card dining rewards points. Say you paid with your Chase Sapphire Reserve®, which earns an unlimited 3 points per dollar spent on dining. In the above scenario, that’s an additional 465 Chase Ultimate Rewards® points, which you can opt to transfer right back into World of Hyatt points (or you can opt to claim them for other travel rewards for more flexibility).

6 great restaurants to take advantage of the Hyatt dining promo

Hyatt Category 1 properties start at 5,000 points, which means you’d need to spend about $350 at Hyatt restaurants through the promotion to rack up your first free room. If that kind of offer has you saying “challenge accepted,” here are six tantalizing Hyatt restaurants in the U.S. to take advantage of the triple points promotion:

Blue Duck Tavern at the Park Hyatt Washington D.C.

Restaurant: Blue Duck Tavern.

Why it’s great: The restaurant itself is certified-great, considering it was recognized in the 2020 Michelin Guide for Washington, D.C. As far as the dining experience itself, a large garden terrace is ideal if you prefer outdoor seating. And if you’re the takeout type, Blue Duck Tavern has its own webpage for online ordering, which you can select for pickup or delivery.
