Who The Abyss King Is In Hyper Light Breaker

Currently, only a couple of bosses are available to beat in Hyper Light Breaker. However, the game is still only in early access, and there are plans to introduce plenty more. Much is expected to change with the game between now and when it fully releases, including introducing endgame material such as the final big bad: the Abyss King.

As the final antagonist, players are unlikely to meet the Abyss King until the end of the game. Perhaps there will be a few chance encounters before that, but since Hyper Light Breaker is still in early access with no sign of the Abyss King in sight, it’s hard to tell. Still, that doesn’t mean that players can’t prepare so that they know what they’ll be up against when the time comes.

The Abyss King Is The Big Bad In Hyper Light Breaker

The Tyrannic Overlord Of The Overgrowth

In Hyper Light Drifter, Judgment was the big bad and main antagonist. As far as villains go, Judgment was a mysterious and intimidating enemy behind the conflict and mysterious illness that plagued the Drifter. With Judgment defeated, Hyper Light Breaker set the stage for an even more menacing big bad: the Abyss King. While not much is known yet about this formidable foe, his presence can already be felt throughout the game and in the Overgrowth.

His presence in Hyper Light Breaker is felt early on. As players advance through the game in either solo or co-op, he’ll send meteors down, summon groups of enemies to attack the player, and send powerful assassins to hunt players down relentlessly. Nowhere will it be safe, and players will need to stay on constant alert as the Abyss King’s influence spreads across the Overgrowth.

Is The Abyss King In Early Access

The Final Big Bad Isn’t In The Game Yet, But His Presence Is Still There

As of now, the Abyss King has yet to make an appearance among Hyper Light Breaker‘s early access bosses. However, that doesn’t mean things won’t change. Hyper Light Breaker is planned to be in early access for at least a year. During that time, the developers will make changes, including updates introducing new content.

Developers are planning major quarterly updates that release new bosses, assassins, and features.

While it’s unlikely that early access will give players the final showdown against the Abyss King, that doesn’t mean that he won’t make an appearance or two. Though not confirmed either way, players might get glimpses of him through teasers and minor encounters. Until then, his lore will have to be enough to tide players over, along with the encounters that players will make with other villains.

Exus and Dro are the first two who must be beaten in order to eventually make contact with the Abyss King.

Abyss King Lore You Should Know

Not Much Is Known About The Abyss King Yet

Goro from Hyper Light Breaker

The Overgrowth and the Abyss King seem to be connected in an unusual way. Spending too much time in the Overgrowth causes the Abyss King’s power to strengthen. While he’s not visibly in the game yet, that doesn’t mean he can’t make his influence known. The longer players stay in the Overgrowth, the more influential the Abyss King becomes, and his power and strength allow him to spawn more enemies.

Most of the current lore known about the Abyss King centers around his connection to the Overgrowth and his lackeys, the Crowns. With each defeat of a Crown, a fragment is uncovered, which reveals more lore and background. Because of his connection to the Overgrowth, the Abyss King becomes more powerful the longer players stay there. However, it’s still unknown as to how exactly the Abyss King is connected to the Overgrowth, but it is hinted through fragmented memories from the Crowns that there is an apocalyptic event. More will likely be uncovered with that as more Crowns are released into the game.

As players progress, the growing influence of the Abyss King will continue to challenge their abilities. Each Crown defeat not only brings them closer to understanding the Abyss King’s true nature, but also unveils the mystery surrounding his rise to power and the Overgrowth.

Although it may take a year for players to finally meet the Abyss King, the journey to defeat him will be filled with challenges to keep players busy. Players will need to take down the five Crowns, each with their own unique abilities, before they can face the ultimate foe. As the game continues to evolve in early access, more villains, story details, and hints about the Abyss King will likely emerge, building anticipation for the epic final showdown in Hyper Light Breaker.
