Welcome To Plathville star, Ethan Plath, just debuted his new girlfriend, and I’m certain the emergence of his usual mistakes and patterns are going to ruin his relationship. I am an avid Welcome to Plathville fan, and have expert knowledge of the cast members’ lives on and off-camera. Welcome to Plathville season 6 ended in early October 2024, and I thought it was the best season yet, as many dynamics changed among the Plath family. Parents Kim and Barry Plath have 10 children (one deceased, and one not participating in the show.)

Originally, Kim and Barry’s had an ultra-conservative and religious grip on their children, but things changed as the older children moved out and Kim and Barry loosened their reigns. Kim and Barry shockingly divorced in 2022, which shook the family up. Older siblings Ethan, Moriah, Micah, and Lydia are all out of the house, while younger minor children Isaac, Amber, Cassia, and Mercy are still split between Kim and Barry. Ethan and his ex-wife, Olivia Plath, had huge storylines together up until their 2024 divorce. Now, I see Ethan moving in a new direction that could further shake things up.

Welcome to Plathville‘s Ethan married Olivia in 2018, when the pair were only 18 years old. They both came from the same conservative backgrounds, and felt compelled to get married young. They lived in Cairo, Georgia, where the Plaths are from, initially, and lived with Moriah and Micah there. Ethan, Moriah, Olivia, and Olivia’s brother, Nathan Meggs, moved to Tampa, Florida, together, before Ethan and Olivia moved to Minnesota, so Ethan could be closer to his grandparents.

I noticed Ethan and Olivia started diverging in values and personal desires early on in their marriage, and I know that’s the main factor that ultimately drove them apart. Ethan thinks of himself as traditional. He wants to have kids, and be the man of the house, with his wife catering to that matrix. Olivia was much more of a free spirit, and wanted more out of life than settling to be a homemaker who cooks and cleans and looks after children. Ultimately, I watched Olivia refuse to conform to Ethan’s stringent ideals, and it led to their divorce.

I think Ethan is the traditional type man he is because of his strict upbringing. Kim and Barry’s originally unyielding hold on the kids, with homeschooling and religious teaching, are what I feel Ethan can’t break free of. Ethan has also demonstrated his stubbornness over the years, like by choosing his obsession with old cars over making progress with Olivia. I believe Ethan is set in his ways, and I know he does not welcome change. I’m certain he will bring his same personality and behavior into his new relationship, and it won’t be a good thing.

Ethan Will Try To Change His Girlfriend Too Much

It’s What He Tried To Do With Olivia

It was obvious to me that TLC‘s Ethan was unbending in what he wanted his marriage to Olivia to look like. A major contention that spoke volumes that I watched was when Ethan chastised Olivia for not cooking for him like he wanted. I think his tactic was to tear Olivia down in the hopes of molding her into the wife he wanted. But Olivia was more resilient than that, and I’m positive Ethan resented her for it.

“The man is the head, and the woman is the neck that turns the head.”

If Ethan’s new girlfriend, who he did not identify by Instagram handle or name, does not fit Ethan’s ideal type of woman, I believe he will try to change her, just as he tried to do with Olivia. I’ve noticed Ethan has a hard time maturing; often reverting to sad episodes of moping when he isn’t getting the outcomes he wants.

I think he will use the same tactics on his new girlfriend once the honeymoon period wears off.

Kim Plath Will Be Involved In Ethan’s Relationship

Ethan Should Keep Kim Out Of His New Relationship

The other part of Ethan and Olivia’s relationship which I know drove them apart was Olivia’s terrible relationship with Ethan’s family, specifically Kim. Olivia accused Kim of financially controlling Ethan and using his credit cards for her own gain. Furthermore, Olivia did not like the way Kim and Barry raised their children, and she had outward disdain and resentment towards them. The Plath kids all sided with their family, further isolating Olivia and Ethan. Olivia wanted Ethan to be on her side against his family, but he eventually chose to conform with them.

Kim has a reputation of being manipulative and meddling in all her children’s lives, and I watched Olivia be weary of that. In Welcome to Plathville season 6, after Ethan and Olivia’s divorce, Ethan repaired his relationship with his mother, which I don’t feel is a good thing. Kim now has her foot on Ethan’s neck once again. Kim will try and exert influence in Ethan’s new relationship if he brings her around his family, which I know he will now that his bond with his mom is stronger.

Ethan Isn’t Keeping His Relationship Private

What Is Ethan’s Angle With The Public Debut?

Ethan is not keeping his relationship private, as he hard-launched his new anonymous girlfriend on his public Instagram account. To me, this means Ethan has plans for her to be on the next season of Welcome to Plathville. Micah debuted his girlfriend, Veronica Peters, in season 6, and their storyline was one of the most talked about.

Ethan could be trying to follow in his brother’s footsteps by adding his girlfriend to the show for clout and air time.

By choosing not to keep his new relationship underwraps, I think Ethan is also trying to rub his happiness in Olivia face. Olivia had her new boyfriend, Brendan, in the latest season, and I think Ethan is trying to get her back. Either way, Ethan’s public debut could have a huge effect on Welcome to Plathville season 7. In any case, I think Ethan’s new relationship will fall prey to his rigidity, overly traditional views, and family influence, and it will lead to its demise.
