On October third, he asked me what day it was. And I said, it’s Mean Girls Day and one month til the election, are you registered to vote, Aaron Samuels?
Seriously, though. On October 2, Katie Couric and Tina Fey issued a challenge on Instagram: get 5,000 people to register to vote, verify their registration, sign up to work the polls, or request a mail-in ballot, and they would get the cast of Mean Girls to do a virtual reunion. The challenge was swiftly accepted, completed, and on October 3, Fey delivered.
But pretty much everyone was there, including Lizzy Caplan (Janis), Amanda Seyfried (Karen), Lindsay Lohan (Cady), Daniel Franzese (Damien), Jonathan Bennett (Aaron), Lacey Chabert (Gretchen), Tim Meadows (Mr. Duvall), Ana Gasteyer (Cady’s mom), Rajiv Surendra (Kevin G) and of course Fey (Ms. Norbury). Rachel McAdams (Regina) couldn’t make the group reunion but talked with Couric separately, calling the chance to relive high school as a popular girl “cathartic” and “therapeutic.”
Amy Poehler, who played queen bee Regina George’s Kris “cool mom” in the movie, was also unavailable, so Couric herself stepped into the role, donning a baby pink Juicy hoodie and using cherry tomatoes from her garden as fake nipples.
Together, the cast shared memories from the moviemaking process and their favorite lines. Seyfried, who recently welcomed a baby boy, remembered knowing she could play the hot but ditsy Karen because she’d played a similar role in high school to “stay out of the drama.” Savvy.
We also got an update on how the movie version of the Broadway musical is coming along: Fey’s working on it and is open to casting suggestions! You can submit your dream cast to try and win a spot in the “burn book.” Calling it now: Dove Cameron as Regina George.

So you agree? You think everyone should vote?
