Savannah Guthrie Perfectly Shut Down a Rude Fan Who Said She Looks ‘So Old’

Today co-host Savannah Guthrie loves her fans—even the rude ones.

On April 1, the 50-year-old broadcast journalist shared a screenshot of her IG comments section to Instagram Stories, highlighting a mean-spirited response from one of the app’s users. The comment in question: “You look so old Savannah what happened to you.”

Guthrie responded by writing “I love my fans” over the screenshot, which you can see here. In a second story, she shared her reply to the so-called “fan,” writing, “I aged!”

Over that screenshot, she added, “Bahahaha.”

Clearly, Savannah Guthrie is willing to laugh off the insult, but this is just one example of the vitriol women often face on social media simply for existing in their bodies.

On March 31, just one day prior to Guthrie’s posts, singer Jessie J took to her Instagram stories to admonish those who would make comments about her weight—on and offline. “Stop commenting on people’s weight. Anyone. Just stop. Or telling someone they look pregnant for sure. Or you look skinny. Just anything. Just stop,” she wrote, per E! News. “I see it so much on socials and I know it happens in real life.”

Jessie J continued, “Someone literally just asked me if I was pregnant. ‘You look pregnant.’ And they also knew of what I went through last year and told me their thoughts on that and how I should of handled it. So strange and damn bold. I would never.”

She concluded, “Not cool to just say or comment on anyone’s body. Unless they/I tell you or ask your opinion it’s not one that’s needed or helpful. Wild that some people don’t know that. Phew.”

Meanwhile, January Jones recently hit back at an Instagram hater with humor. “Wow, is that what she looks like without makeup. Yikes!!!,” someone wrote on a lighthearted video of the Mad Men star singing “My Heart Will Go On” into a vocoder.
