During SNL’s season premiere’s cold open, Alec Baldwin’s Donald Trump faced off in a heated non-debate with Carey’s Biden. It was barely more outrageous than the actual first presidential debate, especially considering their secret weapon: the Democratic nominee for Vice President.
“I think if there’s one thing we learned tonight it’s that America needs a ‘WAP’: Woman as President,” she said. “But for now, I’ll settle for ‘HVPIC’: Hot Vice President in Charge. So why don’t the two of you finish the debate, or whatever the hell this is, with some dignity and when you’re done I got you boys some PB&J and apple slices waiting for you backstage.”
Twitter had a strong reaction to Rudolph’s invocation of the Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion summer hit, “WAP” (which really stands for ‘Wet Ass Pussy,’ in case you weren’t aware). “The incredible @MayaRudolph as future V.P. @KamalaHarris just redefined ‘WAP’ as the U.S. needing a ‘Woman as President,” one viewer wrote on Twitter. “I love it—especially because it will piss off Ben Shapiro.”
“When Maya Rudolph said America needs a WAP, I felt that,” another tweeted.

The moment was especially genius, considering Megan Thee Stallion was Saturday Night Live’s musical guest.
In likely the most powerful moment of the night, Megan used her performance of “Savage” to make a poignant statement about Black Lives Matter, specifically calling for the protection of Black women. Just watch:
“We need to protect our Black women and love our Black women, because at the end of the day, we need our Black women,” she said in the middle of the song, following a poignant recording of activist Tamika Mallory speaking out against Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron over his lack of action following the killing of Breonna Taylor by Louisville police. “We need to protect our Black men and stand up for our Black men, because at the end of the day, we’re tired of seeing hashtags about Black men.”
Now that’s a ‘Woman as President’ moment.
