Kate Middleton Honored Princess Diana Twice at the 2022 Trooping the Colour

Not only did Kate Middleton channel Princess Diana to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee, she also wore an item from her late mother-in-law’s personal collection.

On June 2, the Duchess of Cambridge arrived at the Trooping the Colour ceremony alongside Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, and her children; eight-year-old Prince George, seven-year-old Princess Charlotte, and four-year-old Prince Louis. While her daughter was busy correcting young Louis’s waving technique, the duchess smiled at the crowd and did some royal waving of her own.

Middleton looked positively regal in a white Alexander McQueen blazer dress and complementary blue and white Philip Treacy hat. The duchess opted for a pink lip and brown smoky eye, keeping her hair pulled back in an intricate updo to allow her hat to take center stage.

Middleton has been known to take inspiration from Princess Diana’s iconic style while attending major royals events, and this look was no exception. We couldn’t help but notice the similarities between Middleton’s white ensemble and an outfit Princess Diana wore in August 1991, featuring a white dress with similar button detail, padded shoulders, and a large-brimmed white and black hat.
