Kate Middleton Continues Her Vintage Streak at a Buckingham Palace Garden Party

Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, has been flying the flag for vintage a lot lately—most notably during a royal tour of the Caribbean in March, which saw her wearing no less than three pre-loved pieces in the space of 48 hours. And it seems that Kate’s love affair with vintage is set to continue, with the royal sporting a beaded clutch bag from the ’30s for a Buckingham Palace garden party.

The Art Deco clutch by Josef, which features delicate Point de Beauvais embroidery, is actually a long-standing favorite in the Duchess’s wardrobe. The royal was first spotted with the accessory during an appearance at Wimbledon in 2019, before bringing it out again for the G7 Summit in Cornwall last summer.

For this week’s Buckingham Palace garden party, the Duchess paired the vintage clutch with a coral coat dress by Emilia Wickstead and a matching fascinator by Jane Taylor. She finished off the look with heels by Emmy London and a pair of pink morganite earrings by one of her go-to jewelers, Kiki McDonough.

By incorporating more vintage pieces in her wardrobe—and re-wearing them too—Kate Middleton is sending a powerful message about the importance of sustainability. Long may it continue.
