Halle Bailey Has an Adorable Moment With a Tiny ‘Little Mermaid’ Fan at Disney World

The live-action version of Disney’s The Little Mermaid hasn’t even premiered yet, and human Ariel, Halle Bailey, is already making little girls’ dreams come true. On a trip to Disney World, Bailey met a tiny fan named Mila, who gave the actor-singer-princess the biggest hug a small child can give. Luckily the whole heart-melting moment was caught on video. 

In the clip Bailey has in her arms a little girl wearing Minnie Mouse ears, who has her baby face on Bailey’s shoulder and her arms wrapped tightly around her neck. “You’re so pretty,” Bailey tells her. An adult off-camera tells Bailey that Ariel is the child’s favorite. “That’s so sweet,” Bailey says, and asks if she wants to take a picture, perhaps because little Mila Rose seems to have no intention of letting go of her favorite Disney princess. 

“…met this beautiful lady Mila Rose who made me cry,” Bailey wrote over the vid in her Instagram Stories. “She just hugged me so tight.”

Since the first trailer dropped, videos of little Black girls’ delighted reactions to seeing a Disney princess who looks like them have been charming the internet (despite a few grown men’s weird obsession with the race of a fairytale princess made for children). A compilation of young girls’ reactions to the first live-action Little Mermaid trailer even made it to Good Morning America. “I think she’s brown,” says one thrilled kid. “She’s like me!” exclaims another.

Bracing my heart now for the videos to come when the full movie drops and there’s a whole hour and a half of Halle Bailey as Ariel.
