Soap Star Cameron Mathison’s Home Reduced to Rubble in L.A. Wildfires
“General Hospital’s” Cameron Mathison has lost his home in the ravaging Eaton wildfire.
On Wednesday, Mathison shared an Instagram video of the devastation left behind after his home burned to the ground. He wrote, “We are safe. But this is what’s left of our beautiful home. Our home where our kids were raised and where they wanted to raise their own someday.”
“Thanks to all who reached out and checked in. Can’t respond to all so wanted to give an update here,” Cameron added. “Sending so many prayers to everyone being affected by these fires🙏🏼.”
Last night, Mathison shared an Instagram Story of the fires escalating. He wrote, “Thank you for all the love and concern. We have evacuated and are safe. Prays that everyone can say the same.”
In another Instagram Story, Cameron thanked the firefighters, who were directing traffic on the street, writing, “Grateful for all these heroes.”
Less than 24 hours ago, Cameron shared a video of his home before the wildfire with just the wind affecting his residence.
He said, “The windstorm blew down the branches, some trees. Somehow it spared the Mustang… and the heavy winds haven’t come yet.”
Cameron opened up about losing his home in an interview with TMZ.
He shared, “I was heading out to dinner to Pasadena… I was driving, probably 6:20, I was driving and in the distance on this one face of what we call the Eaton Canyon, there was a little glow. It was like, literally, I saw what was the beginning of this massive fire… I noticed it and was like, ‘Well, that’s not good news.’ I went to dinner and I look at my phone and my phone’s blowing up and I go back to the house and it’s like just total smoke and embers and ashes in the air. No houses at that time were burning that I could see… but it wasn’t good.”
Mathison then went to his ex-wife Vanessa’s apartment. He shared, “We were watching on television and the reports showing that it was getting worse so I went back to the house to get things like passports and birth certificates and photo albums. Although I forgot a few photo albums, which breaks my heart and then came back, went to bed. At 5 a.m., saw the news that literally watching our blocks and streets and houses I recognized burning and not knowing about my house and not knowing… was that our house or not?”
Cameron called it a “sickening feeling” and got into his car to see for himself.
While he acknowledged that it was “against” his better judgement, Mathison commented, “As we got closer and closer to our block… I turned that corner and it like took my breath way because there was nothing.”
Cameron and his family had lots of history with the Atladena house. He said, “This is a place that we literally worked on, every square inch of this. We did everything from like HVAC system to like insulation to the tiles and the floor and the molding, the color, and the paint… it’s kind of crazy to think about the love and the passion that it was for us, to put into this house.
Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag also suffered the devastating loss of their home in the wildfire.
Pratt shared a scary TikTok video in the early hours of Wednesday morning showing the flames approaching the property. He wrote in the caption, “Nightmare came true.”
In the video Spencer can be heard saying, “Oh, wow, it’s back there,” and as the flames get closer to the house, he yells, “For real… let’s go!”
The L.A. Times reports that as of Tuesday evening, the fire had burned more than 2,900 acres and was 0 percent contained. At the time, 30,000 residents had been forced to evacuate. The fires were made even more dangerous by high winds.
The Palisades are just one area hit by wildfires. Other areas in L.A. battling wildfires include Altadena, Pasadena, and Sylmar.
