Piers Morgan’s Olympic rage went up a gear as he lashed out at bronze medallist Meagan Duhamel for not being a winner.
It all started when Piers tweeted that the Tokyo Olympics should be cancelled or postponed during covid times.
A few arguments with Gary Lineker later, the former Good Morning Britain presenter tweeted that ‘real sporting champions don’t celebrate coming third’.
Gary retweeted a quote from The Simpsons, which read: “You’re forgetting what the Olympics are all about. Giving out medals of beautiful gold, so-so silver and shameful bronze.”
Piers then defended himself and responded: “I don’t think Silver and Bronze medals are shameful, but no real champion would ever feel comfortable having one in their trophy cabinet.”
This caught the attention of bronze medallist figure skater Meagan, who said she was proud of her achievements.
“I feel pretty comfortable with my bronze medal thank you very much. “Winning” means different things to different people!” she tweeted.
In true Piers fashion, he refused to back down despite the amount of backlash from fans and athletes.
“Winning means coming 1st, not 3rd…. get out of your comfort zone Meagan!” he said.
But wait, there’s more.
Meagan, not backing down from a Piers rant, answered: “I actually have an Olympic gold in my trophy case. But I’m prouder of my bronze. So to each his own!”
After his original comments, in which he said Olympic medals mean nothing unless they’re gold, a host of former Olympians and sports stars appeared to slam the presenter.
Former professional boxer and three-time Olympian Paddy Barnes replied: “Piers, ill fight you for my Bronze medals.”

The Irish athlete won bronze in both Beijing in 2008 and London 2012 in the light-flyweight division.
Tony snapped back: “What you got in your trophy cabinet champ? @piersmorgan,” and posted an unflattering image of Piers asleep on a sun lounger.
Former British heptathlete Kelly Sotherton also got into a war of words with Piers, as did presenters Gary Lineker and Gabby Logan.
Piers responded to the backlash he faced throughout the day, tweeting: “Getting a lot of Silver and Bronze medal-winning Olympians berating me for saying only Gold matters. But no Gold medal-winners. Funny that!”
