Mark Wahlberg moans eating 11,000 calories a day to gain 3st for film ‘not fun’

Hollywood star Mark Wahlberg gorged on 11,000 calories a day to bulk up for his new film – and moaned it was “not fun”.

The actor, known for his rock-hard abs, ate every three hours for a month to put on three stones to play a former boxer-turned-priest in the movie Stu.

As well as boxes of doughnuts, a typical breakfast was 20 chicken nuggets and 20 KFC hot wings washed down with cans of beer.

Wahlberg, 50, who found fame with rap crew Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch in the early 90s, said at first he was keen and loved visiting bakeries.

But he added: “Unfortunately, I had to consume, for two weeks, 7,000 calories, and then for another two weeks, 11,000.

“It’s such a hard, physical thing to do.

“Once the metabolism starts to slow down, it gets difficult. Losing weight, you just tough it out, you just don’t eat. And this, even when full, I’d have another meal. I was eating every three hours.

“It was not fun.”

Wahlberg said the film took 30 days to shoot and remains in production.

But despite his efforts, Robert De Niro keeps the heavyweight title – for gaining four stones for 1980 movie Raging Bull.

Mark was forced to take a break from filming in Los Angeles in April to go to Massachusetts and attend the funeral of his mother Alma.

The cause of her death is still unknown, but Mark and brother Donnie took to social media at the time of her passing to pay tribute.

Donnie had previously told that Alma, who had appeared in their reality show Wahlburgers, had suffered from dementia.

Mark posted a photograph of her, captioning it: “My angel. Rest in peace.”

Donnie, meanwhile, shared a video montage that included footage of them dancing together at his wedding to Jenny McCarthy.

The montage ends with him wrapping an arm about his mum’s shoulders, telling her: “Thanks mum. For everything.”

He wrote: “For Alma. I’m so blessed to have been brought into this world by, raised by, taught by and set on my life’s path by such an amazing woman.

“My mom Alma’s joy for life, love and people — combined with a pride in her humble beginnings and refusal to forget where she came from — undoubtedly shaped me into the man that I am.

“I’ve often said, if you like anything about me, I got it from Alma. I say that, because it’s true. She was, without a doubt, the most loving human being I’ve ever known.

“I never heard her say, or do, anything disrespectful to anyone. She was, as anybody who ever came across her knows, true blue. Like so many moms who struggled, overcame odds, made something from nothing and pulled off the impossible for their children, she never complained. She did what needed to be done, most often, with a smile. She made the best of times in the worst of times.”

He went on to reminisce about growing up with her raising him and praised her for being the “best mother she could be.”
