Kimberley Walsh opens up about Sarah Harding on Morning Live

Kimberley Walsh says plans for a Girls Aloud reunion have been put on hold following Sarah Harding ‘s death.

The pop star tragically passed away in September at the age of 39 after a heartbreaking battle with breast cancer and now her bandmate Kimberley has confirmed the four members – herself, Cheryl Tweedy, Nicola Roberts and Nadine Coyle – have decided to shelve plans for a reunion for the time being whilst they grieve the loss of their close friend.

Admitting no one was in the “headspace” to even think about a reunion right now, she told The Sun newspaper : “It’s not really something we’re even thinking about obviously, with the situation as it is. No one is even in that headspace right now.”

There had been rumours the girl group would reunite to mark their 20th anniversary but whilst those plans are on the back burner for now, Kimberley has spoken of how close the group have become, even more so now.

She revealed Nadine had moved back to London and they are now living really close to one another.

“She’s back in London now, and lives really close to me. It’s nice that I’ve seen her a lot more over the past couple of years,” she said.

A source close to the band claimed they are eventually planning to hold a concert in memory of Sarah, inspired by Tom Parker and The Wanted’s Stand Up To Cancer gig.

“It’s bittersweet, of course. They’ve all been through the most devastating news and it’s beyond tragic,” the insider told The Sun at the time.

“But when the time is right they’d love to see a concert in Sarah’s memory. It would be hugely emotional for everyone involved, but it feels like a wonderful thing to do after everyone had hoped they might be able to do it together.”

Sarah’s mum announced her daughter’s passing in a heartbreaking post on Instagram back in September.

It read: “It’s with deep heartbreak that today I’m sharing the news that my beautiful daughter Sarah has sadly passed away. Many of you will know of Sarah’s battle with cancer and that she fought so strongly from her diagnosis until her last day.

“She slipped away peacefully this morning. I’d like to thank everyone for their kind support over the past year. It meant the world to Sarah and it gave her great strength and comfort to know she was loved.

“I know she won’t want to be remembered for her fight against this terrible disease – she was a bright shining star and I hope that’s how she can be remembered instead.”
